REFRESHER AVIATION PHYSIOLOGY AND HUMAN FACTORS FOR FIGHTER PILOTS

Introduction

This course is designed for operational fighter pilots who have already had indoctrination training in Aviation Physiology and Human Factors before. It is a comprehensive course that reminds the participants of the various aviation physiology and human factors challenges associated with flying. Through didactics, simulators and case studies, the fighter pilot gets a comprehensive awareness of the issues of concern.

We recommend that all fighter pilots attend this course once every 3 years.

Objectives

At the end of this course, the participant is expected to acquire:

1. Comprehensive knowledge of the aviation physiological hazards associated with flying;
2. Personal experience in various Aviation Physiology simulators such as Hypobaric Chamber, Spatial Disorientation Trainer, Night Vision Trainer, Oxygen System Trainer and Ejection Seat Trainer;
3. Awareness of the cognitive human factors issues in flying.

Duration

The duration of the course is 3 days.

This course assumes prior knowledge and is paced based on this assumption. If the operational fighter pilot requires initial indoctrination, we would recommend they attend the 5-day course first.
