REFRESHER AVIATION PHYSIOLOGY AND HUMAN FACTORS FOR MILITARY HELICOPTER PILOTS AND AIRCREW

Introduction

This course is designed for military helicopter pilots and other aircrew who have already had indoctrination training in Aviation Physiology and Human Factors before. It is a comprehensive course that reminds the participants of the various aviation physiology and human factors challenges associated with flying. Through didactics, simulators and case studies, the helicopter pilot and/or aircrew gets a comprehensive awareness of the issues of concern.

We recommend that all military helicopter pilots and/or aircrew attend this course once every 3 years.

Objectives

At the end of this course, the participant is expected to acquire:

1. Comprehensive knowledge of the aviation physiological hazards associated with flying;
2. Personal experience in various Aviation Physiology simulators such as Spatial Disorientation Trainer, Night Vision Trainer;
3. Awareness of the cognitive human factors issues in flying.

Duration

The duration of the course is 2 days.

This course assumes prior knowledge and is paced based on this assumption. Should the operational military helicopter pilot and/or aircrew require initial indoctrination, we would recommend they attend the 5-day course first.
