AVIATION PHYSIOLOGY TRAINING FOR PRESSURIZED AIRCRAFT AIRCREW



Introduction

This is a concise Refresher course for operational civil aviation pilots on key aspects of Aviation Physiology.



Objectives

At the end of this course, the participant is expected to acquire:

  1. An understanding of key aspects of Altitude Physiology and how pressure variations affect their health;
  2. A working knowledge of Orientation Physiology including a discourse on Visual and Vestibular Illusions;
  3. Simulation experience in Pressure Changes, Rapid Decompression, Hypoxia, Night Vision, Visual Illusions and Vestibular Illusions.


Duration

The duration of the course is 1 day.



Course Content

  1. Altitude Physiology: Trapped Gas, Hypoxia, Hyperventilation, Decompression Sickness, Oxygen Systems;
  2. Simulation of Rapid Decompression and Hypoxia in the Altitude Chamber;
  3. Physiology of Vision and Vestibular System and associated Illusions;
  4. Night Vision Trainer and Spatial Disorientation Trainer
