Standard First Aid Course (SFA)



Introduction

The Standard First Aid course comprises of an in-depth approach to performing critical emergency interventions while equipping participants with the practical and theoretical knowledge and skills to perform CPR on adult victims. Accidents can happen anywhere, and having the knowledge and skills in First Aid & CPR could mean the difference between life and death.

Participants will be trained to react accordingly in various emergency situations, while maintaining self-confidence, composure and assurance to others.

This course will incorporate both the theoretical and practical aspects of First Aid and CPR. At the end of the course, participants will sit for an assessment made up of a MCQ paper and a practical test on CPR and Bandaging.

Upon completion, participants will be awarded a certification in Standard First Aid, valid for 3 years.



Course Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • To equip participants with the ability to act safety, promptly and effectively when an emergency arises
  • To equip participants with the ability to administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) promptly and effectively
  • To enable participants to recognize common major illness

  • Airway Emergencies
  • Management of Medical Emergencies
  • Breathing Difficulties
  • Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Wounds, Bleeding & Shock management
  • The Unconscious Patient
  • Burns & Scalds
  • Eye Injuries
  • Fractures and Soft Tissue Injuries management
  • Handling and Transportation of the Injured
  • Bandages and their applications
  • Revision
  • Written and Practical Examination


Who Should Attend

All employees especially those in safety, designated first aiders, school staff, lifeguards, managers, supervisors, frontline staff, safety personnel and members of the public working in potentially hazardous environment.
